Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) is a highly scalable and durable cloud object storage service offered by Amazon Web Services (AWS). S3 enables users to store and retrieve vast amounts of data from anywhere on the web. With S3, users can upload files such as images, videos, documents, and webpages to S3 buckets, which act as containers for objects. These objects can then be accessed over HTTP or HTTPS web requests.

A key feature of S3 is the option to configure buckets for static website hosting. This allows the objects in an S3 bucket to be exposed as a static website. Static websites contain content such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and image files that are served to end users exactly as stored. They do not require server-side processing. With S3 static website hosting, maintenance tasks like server configuration, software updates, and content backups are handled by AWS.
